I missed a picture day yesterday. By the time I got around to doing it, my iPad was dead, and then, frankly, I forgot! I'll double up to make up for it.

First, here is a picture of my cute bike.

Forgive me for having in our shed, it was dark outside when I took the picture, so I needed the light! This cute thing gets me around when Matt is at work with the car. Riding around on it actually helped me get used to the driving pattern of driving on the left side of the road without the pressure of a car. If you look closely at the top bar, you'll see it says 'Bella'. That sealed the deal for me picking this bike, so it can be a tribute to my dog.

The last few weeks I have become a documentary junkie! My favorite ones that we have been watching have been the BBC Earth documentaries.

I know they have been out a while, so I am behind in my discovery, but they're incredible. I generally end up tuning out nature documentaries, but these are so incredibly shot. The footage would be fascinating to watch with no voice over, but it is amazingly narrated! David Attenborough narrates them. He has the most amazing British accent! Definitely the British Morgan Freeman. The American release of these documentaries are narrated by Oprah. Nothing against her, but it seems a sin not to use David Attenborough. I would highly recommend getting your hand on a copy that has him over Oprah. I cant imagine the dedication it took the filmmakers to get the footage that they did. From reptiles to bugs and monkeys and even plants, everything is captivating. Also, the technology that we have that allowed them to capture the footage they did is stunning. They're able to get so close, with such detail. We have an HD projector in our lounge room that gives us movie theater quality...maybe better, especially since my drink doesn't cost $5 :). It makes watching these just about perfect.

Haha, that picture is kind of pointless since it is too dark to see the size of our projector screen. I'm not even sure how big it is! I would guess about 8 feet diagonal. I've been so spoiled by it....I get grouchy when Matt has be watch Glee on our 36 inch TV so he can play a game on the big screen. :)

And just because, here is a dopey picture of Floyd....he needs a trim.

Whoops!

Yesterday, I was sitting in the lounge room and Matt was in the bathroom shaving. Suddenly the buzz of his razor stopped and he cried out, "Nooooo!"

He came out of the bathroom and showed me the cause of his dismay.

He had been trimming his eyebrows and, against his better judgement, decided to use the electric shaver over scissors. The plastic guard slipped and he shaved off half an eyebrow! I couldn't help myself and doubled over in laughter. Now that it has been over a day, I can control my giggles.

I begged him to let me take a picture, and he refused. Finally I got him to allow me to have a close up picture, so this is all we get.

I was kind enough to run our errands without him today so he could hide from the world. He is off to work tomorrow for three days, and since he works with disabled people, he doesn't really mind.

Anyone have any tips for growing back eyebrows? Or holding back giggles? Anyone?

Vegemite Toast

When Vegemite is mentioned to an American, the response is usually "Ew, gross.". I myself was guilty of this. Then, an Aussie named Matt showed me the way. The thing is, when Americans are offered a spread, we slather it on (like peanut butter, or jelly). The secret to Vegemite is using it sparingly. You butter your toast and then get just a teaspoonish of Vegemite and spread it on.

The result?

Delicious, savory toast! We occasionally top it off with a bit of melted cheese, and you can't go wrong adding a glass of cold milk.

Picture Project

I have come up with the idea to start posting a picture a day on my blog. I figured this might help those who care to see more of the day-to-day things I am experiencing here in Perth.

This little guy is a cookie....biscuit? I may never get used to them calling cookies biscuits. I have found myself using more Aussie lingo, such as trolley instead of shopping cart. But still....they talk funny.

Sunset at Scarborough

Just a 20 minute drive from home is Scarborough Beach. Today we took that drive with Matt's cousin, Craige, his wife Kalli, and their baby boy Caiden. It is technically winter here, but that didn't stop the Aussies from enjoying the beach, and even having a go at surfing in the chilly waves.

If you look very closely, you will find Craige and Matt in the above photo.

Need a hint? They are on a balcony on the closest part of the building on the bottom half of the photo. They blend in pretty well with the tree branch. Matt knew where he was and couldn't even find himself, so kudos if you do!

That last shot is the view from where Matt was standing!

We then had a yummy dinner at Peter's by the Sea, an apparently very well known restaurant (I have to take the local's word for it). After stuffing ourselves we headed back to Craige and Kalli's place before calling it a night.

Food and Stuff!

One of my favorite things about being here is the fish and chips! Every time we get it, I laugh at how brown the meal is. On this particular night, we ordered some shark in addition to our snapper. Tasty stuff! Dom Sim, a Spring Roll, and Crab sticks topped it all off.

Every time I get on Pinterest, I always laugh at all the crafts I plan to do, and the recipes I plan to make, wondering when I would actually make one. Well, I finally did! I made this tasty crock pot Honey Soy chicken!

There was no complaining at our house! It was so good, and so easy! I have already made it again.

Oz is Contagious

Get me bundled in my uggies, hand me a meat pie, and I am a happy girl.

I also have a pink pair of these bad boys!

Don't worry, I am only in the back yard. I don't go out in public in these.

Feathers, Flowers, and Fur

I mentioned before that there are some pretty cool birds and flowers here.

Perth is apparently known for being home to a good number of black swans. One happens to live it in the pond next to our house! We were able to get some good pictures while feeding this lucky swan and his duck friends.

I think we are pretty lucky to have such a lovely pond right next door. That is one thing I think it great about Perth, is the number of parks, ponds, and recreational space. Lovely!

We are also very lucky to have some beautiful flowers growing in our yard. All of these are in our backyard, except the bright orange ones. I snuck a shot over our neighbors fence to capture his awesome flowers.

Beautiful, right? You'll notice how shiny the leaves on the trees are. Just one of the many things that makes Perth that bit different than Utah.

Lastly, I have to show off the cute chunk of fur I live with. Floyd has commandeered my snuggy as his bed. So I dress him up as punishment.

Because of his advanced age, Floyd is missing a number of teeth. He likes to take his dry dog food (dog biscuits here in Oz), bring them to the carpet and attempt to grind it to a pulp by rolling around on it. In the video below, we gave him part of a Cheezle (picture a Cheeto, only shaped like a tube). He went to town on it. The video is dark, though the Cheezle does stand out nicely!

Picture Paradise

I found this awesome little gadget for a steal of a deal on eBay that allows me to transfer pictures from my camera to my iPad, bypassing my horrid laptop. Now I will be able to upload pictures with ease, and you lucky people get to look at them.

Here are a few pictures from my trip to Utah.

Favorite meal, best friend, and the lovely couple. Pretty much sums up what the trip was all about!
